Since 2000, China's carbon fiber has diversified into technology, and abandoned the original nitric acid raw silk manufacturing technology. The one-step wet spinning technology with dimethyl sulfoxide as solvent has been successful. A small number of domestic T700 carbon fiber products developed by independent technology have reached the level of international similar products. As China's demand for carbon fiber is growing, carbon fiber has been listed as a key support for the national chemical fiber industry. In 2005, the global carbon fiber market was only 900 million US dollars, and in 2013 it reached 10 billion US dollars. It is expected to reach 40 billion US dollars by 2022. The application of carbon fiber composite materials will enter a new era. China's carbon fiber industrialization adopts a combination of independent development and introduction. By the end of the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan", the domestic carbon fiber production line equivalent to Japan's T300 has been basically realized, and some enterprises have formed a 100-ton production line with a T700 or higher level.
In 2011, China's carbon fiber market reached 6811 tons. However, due to insufficient supply, the domestic carbon fiber market is relatively slow. It is expected that in the next few years, with the increase in supply, the demand for China's carbon fiber industry will remain relatively fast. The speed is growing.
The backwardness of technology directly leads to the obvious gap between the quality of China's carbon fiber products and imported products, and it also greatly limits the application of domestic carbon fiber products in the high-end field. According to statistics, China's carbon fiber products are concentrated in the low-end applications. The proportion of applications in the aerospace industry with high carbon fiber quality requirements is only 3%, far from the international carbon fiber industry's application in the aerospace industry. The average level; in the field of sports and leisure products with relatively low quality requirements, the proportion of carbon fiber application is as high as 80%, four times the average level of carbon fiber in the field of sports and leisure products. However, the backward technology of domestic carbon fiber has restricted the healthy and steady development of China's carbon fiber industry.
